About Epigenica:
Epigenica is a pioneering biotech startup from Karolinska Institutet specializing in epigenetic profiling. Our proprietary platform features a patented high-throughput, multiplexing, quantitative ChIP-seq (hmqChIP-seq) technology for epigenetic analysis, known as EpiFinder™. We launched our first epigenetic screening kit in June 2024 and with a continued strong R&D focus we are set to release two additional kits in 2025 as well as a service arm. These kits and services will enable researchers and companies to conduct high-quality epigenetic analyses.

Role overview:
As we gear up to launch our commercial services and products, we are recruiting a new team member to play a pivotal role in driving this process. As a Research Engineer, you will be at the heart of both R&D and Operations. You will work with the development of protocols and methods, run service projects and will be involved in different stages of product development.

Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated and solution-oriented research engineer with a strong drive for results, dependable experimental skills and excellent organizational and documentation habits. Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Designing and conducting various molecular biology and NGS experiments focused on protocol optimization and refinement of reagent formulations.
  • Setting up and rigorously maintaining quality standards for reagents.
  • Data analysis and interpretation of results to drive project development and achieve key milestones.
  • Run experiments in our internal R&D projects and for our customers in our service arm.
  • Perform quality control experiments.

Requirements:
  • M.Sc. in a relevant field such as life sciences, biochemistry, biotechnology or equivalent.
  • Proven laboratory experience in an academic or industrial environment.
  • Expertise in molecular biology, preferably in the context of next-generation sequencing sample preparation and assay development.
  • Diligent work attitude and proficiency in documentation using ELN software.
  • Knowledge in epigenomics techniques (specifically ChIP-seq experiments) and related data analysis is desirable.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the capacity to work independently.
  • Customer-oriented and proactive, providing relevant information even when not requested.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, able to manage, execute, and document work in a flexible environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
